#081: Hazel and Bigwig in Watership Down (Novel 1972) “My Chief Rabbit has told me to stay and defend this run.”

Description

This week, Todd and Joe talk about Hazel from the 1972 novel Watership Down. This book is about rabbits, as one of us discovered for the first time getting ready for this episode. We talk about leadership, the scale of an epic story, and misconceptions we had about this wonderful story.

  1. Great commentary. This book has been a favorite of mine my whole life. I came to it after first watching the movie when I was around 5 or 6 years old. If you think this one is heart wrenching, check out The Plague Dogs, also by Richard Adams.

    • Thanks for reaching out to us. We’ve been blown away by the response to this episode. So many people love this book (and it’s not hard to see why). Given how much we’ve enjoyed this book, we will likely get to Plague Dogs sometime.

      Have a great day!
